Conceived by four youths in 2012 during their final year in NTU, See and Be Seen was held as Singapore’s first ever night cycling safety initiative.
In partnership with organisers of a regional charity ride – Firefly Night Race – the 2012 edition saw over 300 cyclists participating in its cause of encouraging cyclists to be properly equipped for night cycling.
Now spearheaded by organisers of the Firefly Night Race, See and Be Seen held its annual safe night cycling campaign over an 84 km and 42km route. The 2014 route will be flagged off at the East Coast Big Splash@Playground with Guest of Honor Dr Vivian Balakrishnan, Minister of Environment and Water Resources.
Previous editions of See and Be Seen had raised funds for non-profit organisations such as Life Community Development and youths from the Special Olympics Singapore.
The 2014 special cause encourages foreign workers to be safe and be seen when riding and the See and Be Seen team will be giving out 1000 lights to these foreign workers at their dormitories leading up to the actual event day on 8 Mar 2014.
Mr. Tan Chuan-Jin, Acting Minister for Manpower will be riding again this year with the participants as Special Guest.
